22 Jan 2009 Tacloban city: PHP 500.00 penalty for litter offendersby Admin TCF  After the induction ceremony in January 2009 the newly-created Tacloban City Environmental Task Force headed by Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez as chairman takes up office in Tacloban City and ratifies a new law. Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez explains, 'Over the past few years we have seen an increase in the occurrence of littering, and in particular, illegal dumping in our city. Littering is the discarding of any item. If caught, a fixed penalty of PHP 500,00 will be levied, which you must pay within 14 days. Failure to pay your fixed penalty may lead to court, where the fine might be much higher.' ... Ok, before you take it for real, this law does not exist .. yet!! .. It's just an idea .. :roll:  what do you think? Are PHP 500,00 too much .. or should it be more? How much do think would be adequate ?!?   Now that Tacloban City is a Highly Urbanized City, maybe we should start thinking about things like this ..

Admin.... I'm just curious.... do you live somewhere in europe? I'm just noticing your use of "comma" instead of "period" in monetary numbers.  Some guys who are not familiar may think of it as 500,000 instead of 500.00 pesos.

I agree about disciple but i think 500 pesos is fair enough. anything higher than it will cause corruption and kotong from the law enforcement agents. you dont want to give them a new livelihood for kotong dont you?

...Agidaw... ...Di na gud ak manlalabay hin basura bis diin... ...Bangin ako madakop...Short pa naman ak hin kwarta yana...  ... ...But seriously, this is good news... ...Many people will be disciplined because of this law... ...What if people who were caught littering dont have money ??? ...What should they do???

Well, that's easy. If they can't pay the fine, then they would have to conduct some social services, like for example collecting litter in the parks, beaches or public areas.
