My partner claims that when she was in college, a curse was placed on her by a Lola of a friend because she somehow failed to heed to the latter's request to return a T-shirt that she borrowed from this friend of hers for some weeks. The curse was such that every time she would ride any public utility vehicle, a pungent smell similar to that of "a shirt soaked in mud and water for several days" would accompany her, making her co-passengers "gag, sneeze, cough or clear their throats in disgust." This smell would initially accompany her usually only when passing through a certain part of the route from her home to school. Then somehow it also began manifesting during her classes.
At first, she initially thought that the problem was simply with her hygiene or something. She even consulted an aunt who is a nurse who simply told her that there is nothing wrong with her.
It made her life so miserable that going back and forth to school would be such an ordeal for her. It came to a point where she said she had to wait until late at night and hitchhike just to get home and she have to leave early (4am) just to avoid the people.
She even consulted a local faith healer who had her drink stuff with with papers and writings on it but sad to say it never helped at all.
I dont know the details of the extent of the interaction of my partner and the said old woman (if she offended her or what) nor did I experience those "smells" myself. I only got a hint that something was wrong initially when we started dating when we were about to graduate (I never smelled anything foul or anything to that effect but i found it peculiar that she would only go home when it was late at night.) At that point also she started to rent boarding houses just to avoid riding the PUJs. And she told me all of this much later. An up until this point i never experienced any of the things that she said people around would experience.
At this point it still is a burden for both of us-a jeepney ride is unthinkable (hence limiting her), a cough, smirk, sneeze or a stranger clearing his throat in front of her is enough to ruin both our day.
I love her truly. I want to help her. I do not know how, but I want to help her.
I asked her to sincerely ask forgiveness from the bottom of her heart regardless if she will still be able to meet that old woman or not, though I'd understand if shell find this hard.
Anyone who can give any serious advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
