PGMA wows Eastern Visayas folks, veteransby Alice Nicart
Tacloban City (20 October) -- Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo brought once more today
"joy and gladness"

to the folks of Eastern Visayas particularly the elderly veterans as she trooped the military honors on the occasion of the 65th Leyte Landings Anniversary.
As she continued to wave her hand

to the waiting crowd, albeit the heat of the scorching sun

and the aching legs, the sight of the
diminutive yet charming President

washed out all the temporary illnesses.

To the ordinary citizen, the experience was
something beyond forget.
It cannot be denied that the President is
occasionally bombarded with unsatisfactory survey

ratings but it is different when you see her in person.
Watching her from a distance as she simply
romped gracefully, the people welcomed her with yelling and clapping,

such, that one would ask in silence how could she be accused of crimes of corruption or so?

The Fertilizer Scam, the NBN-ZTE Deal to name a few are not likely to fit into
the physical aura of President Arroyo.

Could it be true? Could it be her?
The Philippine political dimension has eaten up many of the great ideals. It has set aside respect and glorified instead what is crooked, what is unjust, all, for personal ends and glory.
Thinking back, and for one, it is unfair

for critics to disregard the President's effort to save the country from the global financial crisis but again, the frailty of womanhood, as in President Arroyo's, has proven once more to be men's greatest anchor and the nation's hope.
