i am YES to HUC..

anyone can just simply assume that once YES wins, Tacloban bound with problems, romuladezes would immediately leave tacloban in peril..

that's an opnion but not justified.

how anyone commented on solving taclobans biggest problems w/o sufficent funds to resolve this problems?

- illegal dwellers
- unemployemnt

you know that in 2004 by NSO, taclobans population rose from 180,000 in 2004 to 217,000 in 2008

and anyone can just simply blame the current administration for not doing anything

have you ever put yourself or imagine being the "Mayor" of a City?

how can you expect the city to solve is current problems when these problems have also been doubled in the last 4 years?

more people came to Tacloban and more are coming..

- basura- increase bec of increase population
- baha- doubled
- illegal dwellers- triple its normal rate
- unemployemnt- with more people, more unemployed


the city has to find ways on how to increase its finances. Even w/o HUC ..taxes increased because of its demand. Have you think abt the taclobans' debt and infrastructure.

why do you think the romualdez had built
* abucay bus terminal
* astrodome

> to add additional budget of the city

* new supermarket

to accomodate the incresing populations

if the romuladezez didn't do these things then they would just leave taclobanons as it is, and sat in the offices w/o doing anything..even Mayor Alfred is encouraging more investors to come to tacloban

- to decrease unemployement
- more establishments in Tacloban - add additional revenue for the city and creating more budget to resolve problems about ( baha & drainage)

i just hope that the start of rehabilation of DZR Airport next year because it will bring more investors and tourist not only in tacloban but the entire region 8.

these tourists will not only visit in tacloban, but also the other parts of the province if more of our natural resources are more deveopled..

so how can you expect to feed these people? how can a new supermarket build up w/o enough city budget

how can these people get proper medical treatment, we can just rely on evrmc, bethany & st. pols

and i'm happy to hear that there will be 2 hospital are going to be builts to accomodate the people

we have to act now before all of these problems will blown out of proportion, and once tacloban becomes polluted it would be hard to resolve all these problems..

even the IRA share of 90 million from the National Govt that is supposed to go to Tacloban to address
these problems of baha, basura etc. went to the Province of Leyte, no wonder that for 55 years Taclobans still has these problem bec it is only receiving 5 milyong IRA share from the province.

Have you ever wonder why 90 million IRA was given to the City of Tacloban becuase it depends on the population and land area..but instead of using the IRA to the City it went to the Province becaase the city is under the province . Tacloban's status as "component city"

What justice does it give to Tacloban?

Some barrangay officials said,
" na-aro hin "ayuda" diri nabulig it syudad" pero it probinsya nabulig diristo
- hain man an IRA? ad2 ha probinsya and worst only 5 milyon is given. how can you expect to help Tacloban's development?

these IRA was used not to help Taclobans developments and its problem but to the Province..
- if some people are bragging about EVRMC

i would be more that happy because it servces not only Taclobanons but also fellow waray-waray from different areas of region 8, so pls don't centralize that most patients who go to EVRMC are only taclobanons

have you seen hospitals in rurals areas in region 8? tunga, dulag, alang-alang etc..maybe clinics but not major hospitals..so where do these people have to go to seek medical treatment?
other even came from northern samar..

i would be even glad to know even if 50 milyon of IRA went to ERMC for it develoment and expansion.
look at EVRMC, altough taclobanons didn't receive the IRA that its supposed to receive for its own developemnt at least it went to these hospital because of the services it gives to the people
Do you think if the 90 million IRA went to EVRMC , it would look different
- bigger and more hospitals rooms will be created,
- more doctors, nurses, staffs,
- more advance medical facilities and supplies

HUC, tacloban will have its own congressional district ' pork barrel'
will be concentrated only for development tacloban & its share of IRA

hello congrats to all the taclobanons who voted YES to HUC. YES TO PROGRESS! I hope the city mayor has plans of creating a new commercial and business district to decongest the downtown area. A carefully planned blueprint by the URBAN PLANNING COMMITTEE should be made.

I think Tacloban to be declared as HUC is a good opportunity for progress. Leyte is too big to be managed by the Provincial Government,let the problems of the region's capital take care its own.

Congrats Tacloban, officially now a Highly Urbanized City..

No doubt we deserves to be HUC.
