Pop Superstar Sarah Geronimo having a concert in Tacloban City
She just got back from a highly successful two-month concert tour in the US. Taking only a short break, Sarah Geronimo hits the road again, this time for a seven-stop swing around the country.
Sarah Geronimo’s “The Next One Philippine Tour 2009” is the pop idol’s way of thanking her legions of fans for their unwavering support for her.
The tour begins June 12 at the De La Salle Centrum in Lipa City, then it’s on to the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga on June 20, CSI Stadia in Dagupan City on June 26, Limketkai Atrium in Cagayan de Oro City on July 3, St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City on July 17, Tagum City on July 24, Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City on July 31, ending at the San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City on Aug. 21,
Tacloban City Convention Center on Aug. 28, and Holy Cross Gym, Davao City on Sept. 20.
The reigning box-office queen received enthusiastic reviews for her US tour.
“Geronimo treated her fans to a dynamic performance, belting out ballads in English and Tagalog and electrifying the stage with upbeat dance numbers,” reported the Northwest Asian Weekly, an online magazine. “The 20-year-old also performed songs from her films A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life.”
Another online magazine noted that the meet-and-greet dinner before Sarah’s concert at the Filipino Community Center in Seattle, Washington, was a jampacked affair.
Filipino Community Center board member Efren Pascua, writes in his online article that Sarah’s accomplishments are something all Filipinos should be proud of.
“She is the embodiment of Filipino talent,” Pascua quoted one Pinoy fan.
“It makes them feel at ‘home,’” said 21-year-old Marielle Rodriguez, another fan who had the honor of opening for Sarah’s Seattle concert.
Rodriguez says the 20-year-old Sarah is widely admired by Filipinos across the globe not only because of her musical skills, but because of the way she embraces Filipino values.
“What I like about Sarah is she is modest. … She is wholesome. She doesn’t need to show skin or be all provocative to be noticed. She got famous because of her unbelievable talent,” said Rodriguez.
“She is a great role model and inspiration to a lot of people, including me,” said the online magazine.
In between the concert, she will shoot a film, followup to super huge success of You Changed My Life.
