“Miss Tacloban 2009” Beauty Contest

Twelve lovely ladies from this city are vying for the “Miss Tacloban 2009” beauty title in this year’s Search Miss Tacloban to be held at the Tacloban City Astrodome on June 27 as part of the incoming Sangyaw Festival.


Among the twelve finalists are:

* Noeime Claire Lee
* Rachelle Maybelle Holanda
* Ruselle Reyes
* Kristel Shayne Villanueva
* Rosjane Tiunayan
* Shierra Israel
* Santaniña Dagami
* Niña Sherra Tagalog
* Beverly Abarracoso
* Kathrina Demillo.


According to Malou Tabao, the event coordinator, all have passed the initial qualifications required by the contest organizers such as good looks, age should be between 16-23, good moral character and background, and at least 5’5" tall during screenings held on May 16-17.


A total of P115,000 in cash prizes
(in addition to the trophies, sash, and gift certificates) will go to the winners:
1st place P50,000
2nd place P30,000
3rd place P20,000
4th place P10,000
5th place P5,000


Aside from the major title, special awards to be given to the deserving candidates. These awards include “Miss Talent,” “Miss Photogenic,” “Best in Swimwear,” “Best in Evening Gown,” and “Miss Congeniality.”

To add glitter, the city government has invited several celebrities, including actor-singer Sam Concepcion to grace the occasion, it was learned.

City Mayor Alfred Romualdez and City Councilor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez, chairwoman of the Committee on Tourism at the City Council, is working closely with Cultural Director Don Dolina, Rotary Club of Kandaya, and other organizers and major sponsors for the successful holding of the event.

Last year’s winner of the Miss Tacloban beauty pageant was Miss Sushiela Kumar.
