Bidua wins Little Miss Tacloban titleby Jose Rodriguez T. Señase
TACLOBAN CITY - Zyndel Hurly Bidua, a beauteous five-year-old from this city, bested 11 other contestants to win the Search for Little Miss Tacloban 2009, which was held Sunday, June 21, at the Tacloban City Astrodome.
Bidua, who represented Barangay 92 (Apitong), got the nod of the panel of judges headed by Carlos Molo to win the coveted plum.
City Councilor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez crowned the winner and delivered a short message during the pageant night.
Aside from winning the title, Bidua also copped the Darling of the Press special award.
The other winners of the search were Cheyenne Gill Laus of Brgy. 96 (Calanipawan), 1st runner-up; Dorothy Fabian of Brgy. 50, 2nd runner-up; and Christine Pearl Hipolito Upper Nula-Tule, 3rd runner-up.
For winning the search Bidua received P20, 000, Laus P15, 000, Fabian P10, 000, while Hipolito brought home P5, 000 cash prize from the organizers.
Makisig Morales, who is popularly known as “Super Inggo” in showbiz, serenaded the 12 candidates during the pageant, which was aimed at developing young girls into well-rounded children, who will be aware of their God-given talents and their rights as children
The event, which was held as part of the Sangyaw Festival, was sponsored by the City Government of Tacloban headed by City Mayor Alfred Romualdez, Globe, San Miguel Corporation, Coca, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Digital Gleen, Cristina’s Saloon and Spa, Fil-Products, and Leyte Samar Daily Express.
